Funds sanctioned to build 3,500 km roads in Maha, Gujarat

For Maharashtra and Gujarat, the Union government has sanctioned money for building 3,500 km roads in the two states. In 3,500 km roads to be developed in the two states, Maharashtra's share will be 2,620 km. Ramtek MP Mukul Wasnik had conducted a review meeting of Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) on July 13. He told the Congress workers in Nagpur that Nagpur would be included in the tenth phase.

Centre urged to approve funds for road upgradation in Gujarat

In Gujarat, Bal Krishna Shukla, the BJP MP elected from Vadodara parliamentary constituency, criticised the Centre for allegedly delaying approval of a Rs 1,065-crore road upgradation project. The pre-empowered committee of the Prime Minister's Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) cleared a Rs 1,064-crore road upgradation project of 921 roads covering a total distance of 2,834 km across Gujarat and the committee met in Delhi last week, Shukla said.

Centre to sanction Rs 4,130 cr to Bihar for rural roads

The Union Rural Development Ministry has approved Rs 4,130 crore for construction of 5,700 km of rural roads in Bihar. The amount okayed by the centre is said to be the highest allotment for the State in the past 12 years. The decision to allot the amount under Prime Minister Gramin Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) in the current financial year was taken by the ministry in July, Union Minister Jairam Ramesh said in Patna.

Assam to get 3000-km new roads

Media reports say that the Union Cabinet on July 3 approved a proposal by the Rural Development Ministry to relax norms for Assam so that 1,877 unconnected habitats can get road connectivity under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). These habitats, having population ranging between 250 and 499, will now be connected new roads covering a length of 3,140 km.
